Zhanna Zvarychuk

Zvarychuk Zhanna Volodymyrivna – Honoured Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Candidate of Arts, Associate Professor of the Department of Methods of Music Education and Conducting, Director of the Mixed Academic Choir of the Institute of Arts. She defended her dissertation ‘Liturgical Choral Performance in Nineteenth-Century Galicia’ in the speciality 17.00.03 ‘Musical Art’ (2008). The dissertation defines the degree of study of the Galician liturgical choral art of the nineteenth century; considers the specifics of the spiritual choral performance of the region as a regional phenomenon and its connection with the existing folklore ancient church singing traditions. The article highlights the peculiarities of the singing education of deacons in educational institutions of Galicia and the role of deacons in the development of liturgical choral singing. The aesthetics of Ukrainian liturgical performance is reconstructed. Head of the student academic choir of the Institute of Arts. Since 1991, he has been conducting the ‘Credo’ Chamber Choir at the Cathedral of the Holy Resurrection. He is a permanent member of the jury of the children’s art contest ‘Talents of the Galician Land’.
