Hanna Karas

KARAS Hanna Vasylivna – Doctor of Arts, Professor of the Department of Methods of Music Education and Conducting. Honoured Worker of Culture of Ukraine (1999), Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences (1996), Doctor of Philosophy (2006), Doctor of Arts (2014), Professor (2015), Member of the Union of Theatre Workers of Ukraine (2002), Member of the Musicology Commission of the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society (2001), Member of the National Union of Local History (2010), Member of the All-Ukrainian Music Union (2012). Laureate of the Denys Sichynskyi Regional Prize in Music (2013) and the V. Polek Regional Prize in Local History (2016). In 2015, the National Union of Local History of Ukraine awarded him the title of ‘Honorary Local History of Ukraine’. Member of the Academic Council of the University, member of the Academic Council and the Council of the staff of the Educational and Research Institute of Arts, delegate of the staff of the University, member of the Scientific and Methodological Council of the University, Chairman of the Commission on Educational and Methodological Work of the Educational and Research Institute of Arts. Member of the Specialised Academic Councils K 20.051.08 of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Ivano-Frankivsk, and D 26.850.01 of the National Academy of Culture and Arts Management (Kyiv). Member of the editorial committee: ‘ Journal of the Precarpathian University. Art History’ and the collection of scientific papers “Slovo” (Ivano-Frankivsk branch of the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society). The dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences in the speciality 13.00.01 – ‘Theory and History of Pedagogy’ on the topic: ‘Formation of Aesthetic Experience of High School Students in Folklore Groups’ was defended at the Specialised Academic Council of the Institute of Pedagogy of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine in 1996. She completed a research internship at Smith College (Northampton, Massachusetts) in the United States (2002), where she lectured and improved her professional level. She completed her doctoral studies at the National Academy of Management Personnel of Culture and Arts (Kyiv, 2007-2010), and also completed a research internship there (2014). On 27 March 2014, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Arts in the speciality 26.00.01 – Theory and History of Culture on the topic ‘Musical Culture of the Ukrainian Western Diaspora as a Socio-Cultural Phenomenon of the Twentieth Century’ at the Specialised Academic Council of the National Academy of Management Personnel of Culture and Arts (Kyiv).
