Yurii Serhaniuk

Yurii Serhaniuk – Honoured Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Associate Professor of the Department of Methods of Music Education and Conducting, Chief Conductor of the Elegy Academic Choir. Author of scientific articles, textbooks, repertoire collections. He has graduated more than 20 student academic choirs. His graduates lead the leading choirs of Ukraine. Among them are many people with academic titles and state awards, leading school methodologists. He has been awarded diplomas and honours at international and national choral competitions. He is a member of the Lehyn Men’s Quartet. Since 1993, he has been heading the academic choir ‘Elegy’, which is a participant of prestigious festivals and competitions. His creative activity is reflected in the reviews in the media of our country and abroad (Poland, Germany, Romania). With the participation of Yurii Serhaniuk, he created the musical films The Lehyn Quartet Sings (Moscow, 1975), The Mountain Sing (Ukrtelefilm, 1986), Carpathian Springs (Ukrtelefilm, 1988, directed by O. Biyma), Verkhovyna, You Are Our Light. He released a gramophone album ‘Singing Mountains’ (All-Union Company ‘Melody’, 1988), an audio disc ‘The Elegy Choir Sings’, ‘Carols of the World’.
